It is time to pay tribute to the Burger. A real homemade Burger. As with all things homemade, it takes time and skills to perfect it. Pay attention to three things
1. Quality of your meat
2. Quality of your buns
3. The right kind of toppings
Get some nice minced meat with a fair amount of fat in it, form some large, thick patties.
At the same time, make the burger buns.
This recipe here makes the best buns you’ll ever see:
250 g bread flour or strong white flour
500 g white flour
2 Tsp Salt
½ Cube fresh yeast
25 g soft Butter
200 ml Milk
200 ml Water mixed into the milk
For the glaze: 1 cup milk with a little oil
Let the yeast dissolve in a third of the liquid (lukewarm), add a mould to the flour, pour in the yeast mix and let it ferment until you can see bubbles.
Make a soft dough from the ingredients and let it rise for 50 minutes.
Divide the dough into 15 portions, form small balls and place them next to each other on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Brush the burger buns with the milk and oil mix and bake them at 200 C for about 25 minutes or until brown.
Cut some lettuce into fine strips, tomatoes into slices, and onions into rings.
Fry the burger patties and assemble! Don’t forget to add your favourite sauces. Mayo, mustard and ketchup that is!
